George
Mylordos: Bouzouki / Vocals
Born
and raised on the island of Cyprus, George had a passion
for the bouzouki from an early age. He picked up the instrument
at the age of 12 and became quite successful in a relatively
short period of time. By the age of 15 he was participating
in most major school and community musical performances.
Within a few years he became quite known in Nicosia for
performing at various taverns and hotels.
George
came to the United States in 1982 and begun performing
at various Greek nightclubs throughout the country. The
'nightclub period' lasted for 12 years, and during this
time he performed and mingled with musicians and singers
from many cultural backgrounds. In 1996 George received
a degree in music education from San Francisco State University.
Being one of the founding members of KYMATA George has
remained committed to the band ever since its formation
(1994). Drawing from his exposure to a wide variety of
musical cultures, interaction with musicians from different
cultural backgrounds, formal and informal musical training,
and leadership skills, he has become instrumental in the
success that the band has enjoyed ever since.
